ASA NorthWest Late Model Tour

Jay Sauls made up for a bad start to the season with a come from behind to win his first iRacing.com American Speed Association Northwest Late Model Tour feature in 2009. Sauls started in last position after a mechanical problem during qualifying at Stateline Stadium Speedway in Post Falls, ID.

Finishing on the podium the second race in a row, Joey Tanner moved up a step to second. Mike Longton’s streak of two wins in a row came to an end finishing third. Sauls lost a rear spring during qualifying and had a bad two laps putting him at the back of the pack for the start of the iRacing.com 125 lap feature on the .250-mile oval. He methodically kept working his way to the front. On a green/white/checker restart Sauls moved to the inside of the second row on the commit cone restart. With the front two Kevin Richards on the inside and Jared Vorse on the outside mixing it up on the restart. The two got into it as they were in turn three heading to the white flag. Richards spun and Vorse was penalized giving the hard earned win to Sauls.

Upon exiting the car Sauls was exhausted as he stood there in disbelieve that he won the race. “It has been a tough start to the year and this helps a lot” said a somewhat jubilant Sauls.

Tanner was very excited to finish second stated “They gave me a great car again this week. I am slowly moving up in the points"

Next Up for the iRacing.com ASA Northwest Late Model Tour is the two days on the road course at Pacific Raceways in Kent, Washington on July 27 & 28.
